Hello, my name is Jackie Cairns and I have been the Practice Business Manager, (my full title), at Calsayseat since April 2001. I thoroughly enjoy my work here; where no two days are the same, and every day is both challenging and satisfying.
To be a practice manager means that I have responsibilities over a very wide area from human resources to health and safety. I am here to ensure the practice operates the way the Partners want it to.
My main patient related role is to ensure that services are running smoothly and that you can get smooth access to the professionals who ensure your care. I do not have a lot of direct patient contact and my efforts may therefore be largely invisible to you. However, this does not mean that I do not know what is going on. The Calsayseat team are always telling me what is working and what is not.
An example of one of my long standing priorities is to ensure that there are enough appointments.
There are three components in this, supply, demand and communication.
The supply is forecast every six weeks. Any identifiable shortfalls are resourced. Demand comes from you the patients. Communication is where I need to be sure that patients are aware of their options in order to get the assistance they need.
